Quilting Time – Baby on the Way!

I made a quilt using Rachel Denbow‘s instructions in her Red Velvet Baby on the Way E-Course! Check it out!

If YOU have a baby on the way (or a friend does) and are a crafty lady, I definitely recommend this E-Course. There are 12 stunning and useful tutorials included – I plan to make a few bibs and changing pads pretty soon and I might even tackle some of the more complicated stuff too!

The Herringbone Quilt tutorial is definitely the stunner though. I have been planning to make a quilt since the day I discovered I was pregnant and it was awesome to have this handy guide to follow.

I used mostly vintage sheets for the fabrics in this quilt, along with all natural cotton batting. The Vera (green ferns) sheets are ones that I had on my own bed as a child, so it’s very special to me to include them in this quilt. It makes me smile every time I look at it! I may make a fitted sheet out of hte extra pink floral fabric to use in the crib as well – and yes of course Rachel has included a tutorial for fitted crib sheets as well! Lucky me!

Pumpkin Carving!

A few weeks ago we had some friends over for a Soup Potluck and Pumpkin Carving! Here are just a few snapshots of the amazing pumpkins being carved.

Just check out Jen Oak’s amazing kitty pumpkin – and then head on over to her website and check out her amazing art and illustration! She just released an amazing 2012 calendar featuring pinup illustrations of “ample babes and curvy vixens”. By the way, don’t you just LOVE how Jen’s hair perfectly matches the pumpkins!

It was a fantastic night spent with friends, food and fun! We had so many fantastic soups (along with my own specialty: mole chili) as well as salad and bread. Our friend’s Nick & Natalie brought gluten free Pumpkin Bread that was just out of this world! I haven’t been going out as much as I used to lately and so it was really great to have our friends come to us! I simply can’t wait to do it all again!

This & That & the Other Thing

I HAD to feature these bracelets in this Wednesday’s This & That & the Other Thing because I have completely fallen in love with Moorea Seal‘s jewelry, and her new line of studded leather bracelets are no exception! I want one of each so it’s a good thing she’s offering them in multiples! You can even choose the style and color of leather for each one! LOVE.

Baby on the Way E-Course by Rachel Denbow

Rachel Denbow of Smile & Wave will be releasing a new E-Course all about crafting for a new baby! I’m super excited to snatch up this course and try my hand at some crafting while I wait for my little one to arrive. I’ve been saving my favorite fabrics and vintage sheets for just this sort of thing – the chevron quilt below is just adorable and may be the first project I attempt!

The course will launch tomorrow – Oct 19 – through Red Velvet.

Baby Shower!

So I’m attending Baby Shower #2 today – I have the best friends! I figure it’s about time I posted photos from Baby Shower #1!

I loved spending time with my family and friends in Columbus! For the first time I really could just relax and enjoy myself. Being pregnant totally has its perks!
